(or About Summer Advantage)

Focus on the four time lines — what they learned about American history, what surprised them, what shocked them, what inspired.

Focus on the three movies — how they enhanced the learning experience, how they added information to what we learned in class, how movie can be a good teaching to spark reflection and discussion.

Focus on the two documentaries — how this was more useful than being assigned a textbook chapter or another lecture, how documentaries help make learning more vivid, how they deepened my understanding of the subject matter.

Focus on multiple elements — mix and match from above and other elements, such as in-class discussions.

Focus on the blogs — what you got out of the overall experience of writing shorter assignments rather the longer papers, how the online format made the writing more fun or interesting, what it taught us about how to present our work in a professional way, etc.

Focus on the mock trials — how preparing for and presenting the legal arguments enhance the learning experience, how the role-playing aspect fit into the learning objectives, how this approach fostered teamwork and cooperation.

Focus on the EOTO assignments — how did you feel about the professor flipping the script and having US teach the class about a subject, how did doing the research about the topics make learning more interesting than reading a textbook chapter about it, how did the presentation help us become more comfortable presenting our to an audience.

Focus on the use of AI — how did our experiments make us feel more comfortable using various AI tools, how did it help us think about the ethical issues involved with when to use and when not to use, how did it help speed up the research process, how did it make our research more accurate.

Focus more broadly on DIS1000 and Summer Advantage — how you gained from being at HPU a summer ahead of your first semester, how you felt about being with the same students five days a week, how the communal living affected your personal experience, how the experience helped you connect with people and make friends.
